Take Your Growing Interest to Farm Beginnings
Renowned early farming training program can set you on the right path
Farmers Rising Early Training Program Starts 2/28
For many years, Angelic Organics Learning Center helped numerous aspiring farmers to launch or scale up their businesses (and helped a few realize that farm living wasn’t the life for them). The tradition continues as the organization, re-branded last year as Farmers Rising, is launching its first 2024 curriculum on February 28.
The Virtual Spring Session: Farm Dreams Intensive is a seven-week, twice-weekly online interactive group course designed for aspiring and beginning farmers to turn farm dreams into clear farm business visions. There will be farmers and technical service providers as featured guest speakers, structured peer to peer learning, personal learning plans, and market research .
The course is priced at $800 with scholarship assistance available, and the $25 application fee counts towards total. Classes are scheduled from February 28 through April 13 on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. central time and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. central.

Get Your Garden Plans On at Lunch & Grow Event
The latest installment of the Chicago Grows Food organization’s online Lunch & Grow series features David Toledo of Contemporary Farmer, Inc. discussing a seasonal timeline from your garden plans. The event will take place Wednesday (February 14) from 12:00 to 1 p.m.
David founded Contemporary Farmer in 2019 with the goal of connecting urban, rural and suburban farming initiatives and fostering intergenerational education around regenerative agriculture. A big part of that mission is teaching people how to grow their own food, mobilizing home growers “to develop edible spaces that redefine our relationships with local food systems.”
