Sunday: Local Food Forum on Mike Nowak Show
Talking about farmers market season opening and the Chefs for Ukraine fundraiser
Glimpse of Beauty on a Gray Day
Friday’s weather was kind of funky. Cloudy and chilly, then add gusty winds ahead of a cold front that set off a line of brief snow showers. But as the snow pulled away across the lake, a very short-lived rainbow popped up over Belmont Harbor, right outside our window.
Nice touch.
Sunday: Local Food Forum on Mike Nowak Show
Another sign that spring has returned: I am going to be a guest on The Mike Nowak Show with Peggy Malecki tomorrow (Sunday), shortly after 9 a.m. central. Our chat will answer questions such as:
• With Green City Market opening next Saturday — more than a month ahead of its usual schedule — what can shoppers expect to find this early in the season?
• How are hoop houses and other season extension tools changing what “growing season” means in the Chicago region?
• Has Bob ever cut his hair?
We’ll also take a look back at the amazing Chicago Chefs Cook for Ukraine fundraiser that produced more than $500,000 for Chef José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen emergency food assistance program.
Also on the show is author Emily Murphy of Pass the Pistil, who will discuss her new book GROW NOW, about how your backyard garden can help save our health, communities and even the planet.
You can tune in on the show’s YouTube channel, Facebook and Twitter pages, and at mikenowak.net.
