Connect With South Side's Food Culture at Chicago Urban Ag Crawl
Urban farms and other food-related businesses play an important role in addressing food insecurity and improving food access on Chicago's South Side, helping to restore jobs, opportunity and hope in economically challenged communities.
If you haven't seen this up close, the 3rd annual Chicago Urban Ag Crawl & Backyard BBQ will be a great chance to do so. The Crawl is a's multi-site event that will take place on Sunday, September 8 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., with anchor locations at Growing Home Urban Farm, Urban Growers Collective's Green Era Campus, and Grow Greater Englewood's Englewood Village Plaza.

To Whom It May Kernza: Beer Using the Grain is Focus of July 24 Event
Kernza®️ is an artisan grain that has drawn rising interest in Kernza because of its reputation as a tasty grain that also has benefits to the environment and regenerative farming.
These qualities drew the attention of Patagonia Provisions, the food division of the eco-friendly Patagonia clothing company. They have partnered with Half Acre Beer Co., a pillar of Chicago's craft brewing community, on a Kernza Lager — and are holding an event next Wednesday evening (July 24) at the Patagonia store in Chicago's Fulton Market District (1115 West Fulton Market St.) to discuss the project.
Also participating is Just Roots, a non-profit farming organization that uses regenerative practices to grow fresh, organic, culturally affirming food and increase enhance food access.
