Sharing a Picture-Perfect Saturday
We had a beautiful Saturday in the prettiest autumn I remember since we moved to Chicago in 2011. So I took lots of pictures and hope you don’t mind if I share. I’ll be back to the food beat tomorrow.
The photo above is of the sunset taken from the roof of the 40-story highrise where we live. There are more below.
Fall Reflections
Michigan State University has a beautiful campus with thousands of trees. Fall was always my favorite season when I attended in the 1970s, because we were surrounded by the brilliant colors of the foliage.
That came to mind when I visited Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood to take photos for an upcoming article about the recently opened Eden restaurant (it was pouring rain when I first visited last Tuesday).
The restaurant is steps from the west bank of the Chicago River’s North Branch, and as I strolled the nearby walking path, the reflections of the fall colors in the water reminded me of the many times when I would wander the campus taking similar pictures of the reflections in the Red Cedar River. That was, in fact, what gave me a permanent case of the photography jones.
It was an idyllic walk.
Back in Mr. Benenson’s Neighborhood
The tree-lined streets of my Lakeview neighborhood have been delighting me much closer to home. I thought the photo above was especially striking.
The local rabbits appeared to have decided this year that the grass really is greener — or at least tastier — on Hawthorne Terrace. What a cutie, amIrite?
Just Another Tequila Sunset?
I thought this last one above, of a crescent moon at dusk, was very serene.
Another Week Rising
Finally, enough of the sunrise sneaked through the cloud cover this morning to usher in the new week. Do make it a good one.
