I Can See Clearly… Now
The folks who plan the annual Chicago Air and Water Show must be besides themselves this morning. This is what our Lakeview lake view looked like earlier… virtually cloudless as far as the eye could see. This is what it looked like yesterday afternoon when the show producers tried to squeeze in a very abbreviated performance after a long delay.
And this was after a morning in which the skyline was invisible behind a solid bank of fog that refused to lift. And that was after persistent rain showers forced a greatly abbreviated program on Saturday,.
Taking photos of the Air Show’s fast-moving objects has been what I call my annual hand-eye coordination test, so the weather fail was unfortunate (though I did get decent photos during the fair-weather rehearsals on Thursday and Friday). It’s not that I am so enamored with the event itself, but it takes place right outside the window. I’m not that enamored of heavy storms moving in, but I take photos of those too.
The skies cleared, of course, by sundown, so I went up to the roof deck and snapped off a couple of pix (yes, we live that close to Wrigley Field). Nature will always one-up the man-made spectacles, no matter how hard we try.
The weather may have sucked for the Air Show weekend, but the forecast for farmers market shopping this week looks great. The Chicago region schedule is below.
