Twilight Time for Sunset Views
The vernal equinox, aka first day of spring. While there isn’t much good to say about winter, we do get to view the sun rise and set from our living room (when it’s not cloudy). And as you can see here, as the sun progresses north in the sky, the view gets blocked by the west wing of our apartment building.
Still a darn pretty sky on Friday evening. And soon enough, our building’s rooftop deck will reopen, and with a short elevator ride, we’ll have unlimited sunset views.
Now, please Mother Nature, turn off the deep freeze for a few months, would ya?
Edging Toward Outdoor Market Season
I dropped by Green City Market’s indoor market finale Saturday (March 18) in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood. It’s a good thing it was indoors, because it was butt-freezing cold out.
Winter wasn’t letting go without a fight.
Green City is kicking off our region’s outdoor market season on Saturday, April 1, less than two weeks away. No doubt, it’s a bit of a gamble weather-wise.
Chicago’s average high temperature on April 1 is 53 degrees. Not beach weather, but a far cry from the high of 24 this past Saturday. Historically, the high temperature on April 1 has ranged from 82 in 2010 to 33 in 1936. Last year, the April Fool’s Day high temp was slightly below average at 47.
So what’s the way-too-early advanced forecast for this April 1. On Accuweather, it’s cloudy with a high of 49. Weather.com says 47 (sounds familiar) and partly cloudy. But don’t bet a lot on these numbers. With 12 days to go, the forecast could change 12 times. At least.
