I’ve harvested some great grant application opportunities in our local food community from various sources and am happy to share below. Hopefully this will help some of our readers, and please share with others who might be interested.

Food Animal Concerns Trust (FACT)
Deadline: January 20 (next Thursday)
FACT awards competitive grants of up to $3,000 to working, independent farmers located in the U.S. who raise beef cattle, bison, broiler chickens, dairy cows, ducks, geese, goats, laying hens, pigs, sheep and/or turkeys. Click below for eligibility criteria and a link to apply.
National Young Farmers Coalition
Deadline: Friday, January 28
Now in its third year, the National Young Farmers Coalition program (in partnership with Chipotle) is offering 50 $5,000 grants to a new cohort of young farmers and ranchers. Forty-five awards will go to businesses already in operation, and five to projects starting in 2022. The grant program is available to support farmers and ranchers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, in addition to the 50 states and Washington, D.C. The FruitGuys Community Fund provides annual grant awards to support sustainable agriculture projects that have large positive impacts on the environment, local food webs, and farm diversity. Click below for more information and an application link.

With the support of the Chicago Region Food System Fund, Faith in Place is excited to invite Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin Houses of Worship and faith-based nonprofits to apply for $7,000 grants to enhance resilience, innovation, and sustainable transformation of the regional food system. Illinois Stewardship Alliance Resilience Fund
Deadline: Tuesday, February 15
This is a reminder about a grant program that I have previously promoted. The Illinois Stewardship Alliance will award a total of $175,000 to local food producers for investment in critical infrastructure to increase the capacity and resiliency of our local food system. Farms and farm collaborations will have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $10,000. Click below for more information and to apply.
