Chillin’ on the Lakeside
I had the best of intentions to put out a full issue of Local Food Forum today. But after a couple of meetings and some other work was behind me, Barb and I decided to take in some of this absolutely gorgeous day by the lakeside near Belmont Harbor. And, well, the idea of rushing back home to the computer kind of fled.
Nonetheless, I hope I’m providing some service by re-sharing the schedule for this weekend’s farmers markets. I have little doubt that most readers do their marketing on weekends, and with very pleasant weather in the forecast and markets open just about all over the place, please take the opportunity to get some delicious locally produced food and support our local farmers.
Maybe buy some of those decadent strawberries that just hit the markets this week.
Some more outdoorsy photos below. Here are the market listings.

More from the Lakeside
A seagull in flight.
Allium flowers, like this great big one near Belmont Harbor, are both beautiful and fascinating.
A big bunch of alliums.
Come On Let Your Colors Burst
The Wednesday and Saturday night fireworks over Navy Pier have begun and will continue through Labor Day. Here’s a big starburst taken from our perch four miles north.
Caught in the Act
The grass is tall and lush in our Lakeview neighborhood, but even rabbits need a little variety in their diets. Here’s one of our neighbor bunnies on Hawthorne Place working on eating the rainbow with a face full of flowers. I doubt the homeowner was as amused as I was.
