May in Bloom
The city’s flowering trees are flourishing. More below (with bunnies).
This Week’s Outdoor Market Schedule
It’s the first weekend in May, and the region’s outdoor market list jumps to 12 from five just last week. Watch this space because there are many, many more to come.
I’m planning to hit the Division Street City Market to mark the launch of Chicago City Markets’ season, then segue to Green City Market Lincoln Park on my way back to Lakeview. I hope this isn’t too forward, but if you’d like to hang with me and watch me become awe-struck at whatever is new in market, let me know by replying here or emailing bob@localfoodforum.com. The time is morning whenever (my schedule’s flexible).
Also may check out Wicker Park Farmers Market Sunday. Sounds like a shirtsleeves weekend, finally.

Love Your Garden? Apply for These 2023 Awards
My friend Peggy Malecki, publisher of Natural Awakenings Chicago, alerted me that you gardeners out there can apply online through June 30 for the 2023 Chicago Excellence in Gardening Awards (CEGA). This, the only citywide program of its kind, is celebrating its seventh year of rewarding gardeners for the beauty and sustainability they bring to their backyards and to their neighborhoods.
