——————————————
Illinois Food Justice Alliance (IFJA) is an intergenerational, multicultural, multi-sectoral coalition that utilizes and leverages our collective voice to bring forward a just food system in Illinois. We first came together in 2015 to pass the Good Food Purchasing Policy (GFPP) in Chicago and since have worked together to ensure a better food system for all of Illinois.
Led by the Chicago Food Policy Action Council, Illinois Stewardship Alliance and HEAL Food Alliance, our multi-sector, multi-racial coalition is a living representation of the food system we want to see. Note: Illinois Stewardship Alliance is IFJA’s fiscal agent.
We are in search of a dynamic and detail-oriented State Organizer to join our team, someone who is passionate about execution, solution-oriented, and eager to contribute significantly to the planning and implementation of the Good Food Purchasing Policy campaign. In this role, the successful candidate will spearhead the coordination and execution of the GFPP campaign, playing a vital part in supporting the broader initiatives of the coalition.
We strongly encourage all who are interested to apply, regardless of whether or not you meet all of the listed qualifications in the job description.
For questions, email Kiara Jackson at kiara@ilstewards.org. Please note, as a small team, our communication in response may be slow while reviewing candidates. No calls please.
Reminder: Apply by 1/31 for Infrastructure Grant
A reminder that if you have a farm or food business that would benefit from the new Illinois Local Food Infrastructure Grant program, the clock is ticking: The application deadline is January 31, aka four weeks from today.
The $2 million grant fund is one of the most important state government policy measures aimed at rebuilding a resilient local food ecosytem in Illinois, and its enactment one of Illinois Stewardship Alliance’s biggest legislative victories this year.
It addresses one of the most crucial issues facing farmers in Illinois’ food system: a lack of critical infrastructure — such as mills, food hubs, livestock processing facilities, refrigeration, trucking, and community kitchens — to get food from their farms to the schools, institutions and communities that need it most.
Click the first button below to access the application and, if you desire more information, the second button to access the December 4 Local Food Forum article about the program.
Today’s total: 994. Could you help us out? Paid or free, they all count. And I would love to see us hit four figures!
