First Craft Beer Meetup Scheduled for Feb. 25
I’m happy to announce that we have a date and place for our first Local Food Forum Craft Beer Meetup (arrived at in discussion with folks who reached out and expressed interest).
Date: Saturday, February 25
Time: 1 p.m.
Place: Cultivate by Forbidden Root, 4710 N. Ravenswood Ave., Chicago
While it looks like we have a nice little group, there is still plenty of room for more folks, so I hope some more of you will join. My only request is that you let me know so I can give the folks at Cultivate a heads up about how many to expect.
This is a pay-as-you-go event, so bring your wallet. :)

Welcoming February at an Indoor Market
January only seemed endless, but I was happy to mark the first Saturday in February with a visit to the bi-weekly Green City Market indoor space in Avondale. Although the indoor market is some distance from Green City’s seasonal outdoor markets in Lincoln Park and West Loop, lots of local food fans continue to make their way there for the best of winter season.
The good news: Believe it or not, we are less than two months away from Green City’s outdoor season opening. Not rushing time, but looking forward to it.
Our kitchen was pretty well stocked, so I had a modest market haul. From left, rainbow carrots, Empire apples and sweet potatoes from Nichols Farm and Orchard (Marengo, Illinois); ground pork and bulk Italian sausage from Finn’s Ranch (Buchanan, Michigan); and a tofu salad and tofu dip from Phoenix Bean (Chicago).
