Edible Chicago Brewed Up a Fun Launch Party
Beloved magazine's revival packed them in at Hopewell Brewing
Night of Toasts to Edible Chicago
The original Edible Chicago magazine made an impact in the years before it shuttered in 2017, and it was sorely missed by many in the local food community. So it shouldn’t be surprising that Edible Chicago 2.0, which began publishing last fall, drew a full house for its celebration Thursday (March 14) at Hopewell Brewing in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood.
Publisher Megan Marshall was the hostess with the mostest at the festivities. Megan began her professional life as an events manager, then spent time as operations manager for Green City Market before attending New York University to obtain her M.A. in food studies.
It was during her post-grad experience that she learned that Edible Communities, which has 90 location-specific publications focused on local food ecosytems, was seeking a publisher to bring Edible Chicago back. [True story: She read about the opportunity in Local Food Forum.] She applied, was accepted, and got it rolling with the Fall 2023 and Winter 2024 issues.
Thursday’s party marked the launch of the Spring 2024 issue, with a seasonally appropriate photo of spring onions.
Here are some more photos from a fun night out, with best wishes to Edible Chicago for a long, successful run.
Chef-Advocate Sarah Stegner Featured on CBS’ “Foodie Friday”
Local Food Forum frequently features the work of Sarah Stegner, the award-winning chef-owner of Prairie Grass Cafe in suburban Northbrook. Along with being a two-time James Beard Foundation Award winner, Sarah is one of the culinary community’s leading advocates and philanthropists for good causes. And she is a great supporter of Local Food Forum.
So it is apt that Sarah was the focus of CBS2 Chicago’s latest Foodie Friday article by reporter Jamaica Ponder. Click the link below to view the video.
