Donate to Help Three Sisters Garden
With a link that works this time, hopefully; plus Dom's announces 2nd store site
Please Donate To Help Three Sisters Garden
Yesterday I posted about the devastating fire damage that Tracey Vowell at Three Sisters Garden in Kankakee endured earlier this week. I tried to help, but the first link (copied from Tracey’s donation page) decided not to work. I sent a correction with a link… and that broke down. (Both links worked when I checked them before publishing).
I’ve been dealing with inexplicable technological glitches for 40 years now — I imagine it’s some security issue about Donate buttons — but that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that every one of you who wants to help Tracey in her hour of need is able to do so.
So instead of trying to embed a link, here is the URL to the page on Three Sisters Garden’s website that has the Donate button right at the top:
That link is also in the button below.
If you missed yesterday’s newsletter, that page also has Tracey’s description of the misfortune that has befallen her. Please give generously, and thank you for your patience.
Dom’s Picks Old Town for 2nd Kitchen & Market
Great news for Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood and adjacent downtown areas: Dom’s Kitchen & Market — which opened its flagship store in June on the Lincoln Park-Lakeview border — has revealed that its second store will be at 1233 N. Wells St. near the south end of Old Town.
A report yesterday in the Chicago Tribune said that the site, currently occupied by Michigan-based specialty grocer Plum Market, is 27,000 square feet, or half again bigger than the first store, located at 2730 N. Halsted St. The new location is scheduled to open this fall.
I’ve become a regular customer at Dom’s in Lincoln Park and have gushed about it a bit in Local Food Forum (links to previous stories below). While farmers markets are always first in my heart, Dom’s is my favorite grocery shopping experience… maybe ever.
The product selection in The Market is right in my wheelhouse, leaning heavily to organic or other genuinely natural products and providing shelf space to some of our best local startup brands. The food service options in The Kitchen are also excellent. And the customer service is extraordinary.
I’ll be following and reporting on Dom’s #2 leading up to its Grand Opening.
