Suddenly A Sunset Streak
It still feels like winter out there, but at least February isn’t the solid wall of gray that January was. This has given us a run of beautiful sunsets, like this one last night.
The trudge toward spring continues, but at least it’s prettier.
Meet Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm’s Meat CSA
I am pleased to share the following about Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm’s meat and egg Community Supported Agriculture subscriptions. Beth and Jody Osmond, of Ottawa, Illinois, are longtime leaders in our local food community and are among my earliest acquaintances in this second career I started a decade ago.
Just a reminder to CSA farms: My invitation to share your CSA information in Local Food Forum remains open (whether you’re an old friend or not). Our audience is devoted to supporting local farmers, and a little free publicity never hurts.
Here are the details from Cedar Valley.
_______________
Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm is Illinois' first and best meat and egg CSA.
Beth and Jody Osmund farm in Ottawa, IL and have brought their shares to Chicago and suburbs since 2003.
Meat & egg shares include a selection for beef, pork, chicken, eggs, and now occasionally lamb. Deliveries come once a month at designated pickup sites.
PIckup sites include: Green Beginnings (1376 W. Carroll Ave.) in the West Loop, Begyle Brewing (1800 W. Cuyler) in Ravenswood, Blue Island Beer Company (13357 Old Western Ave.) in Blue Island, Kinslahger Tap (6806 W. Roosevelt Rd.) in Oak Park, Solemn Oath Brewery (1661 Quincy Ave. #179) in Naperville, Revolution Brewing Taproom (3340 N. Kedzie Ave.) in Logan Square, Augusta Food and Wine (2312 W. Leland) in Lincoln Square, Temperance Tap (2000 Dempster St.) in Evanston, and on farm by appointment.
Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm offers three CSA share sizes — small, regular and large — as well as package orders and Custom Butchered orders. All can be delivered to pickup sites.
Sustaining Shares and Investing Shares are available. Sustaining share members are charged at the beginning of each month and can pause or suspend their share at any time. Investing members pay in advance for periods of 3, 6, or 12 months. (The longer the commitment, the better the value.)
The Osmunds pride themselves on their ability to consistently bring you the highest quality, most delicious food with unmatched flexibility and customer service. Members with dietary restrictions or preference can exclude beef or pork or chicken or lamb or eggs from their monthly share with the value being made up with other cuts. If a member can't make it to their regular pickup site, they can switch to another site or defer to a later month. Members are never charged for food they haven't picked up.
In addition to providing delicious, sustainable meat & eggs, Beth and Jody host farm events — spring through fall — for their members.
