Today’s Green City Market Haul
We love all of our local farmers, so we spread our purchases around. Today’s haul from Green City Market in Lincoln Park includes Mick Klug Farm’s first of season peaches (Michigan), tomatoes from Frillman Farms (Michigan/Illinois), zucchini from Wholesome Harvest (Wisconsin), first of season (Lodi Transparent) apples plus jalapenos from Nichols Farm and Orchard (Illinois), eggplant and first of season okra from Froggy Meadow Farm (Wisconsin), Italian parsley and lemon balm from Smits Farm (Illinois), hakurei turnips from Avrom Farm (Wisconsin), corn from Iron Creek Farm (Indiana), and a pork steak from Jake’s Country Meats (Michigan).
We hit all four states in the Lake Michigan region. Woot!
Sweet Corn! Get Ya Sweet Corn Here!
We told you there would be lots more corn in the markets this weekend. If you read this Saturday morning, there’s still plenty of time to get to your local market, snag your corn and some of the other beautiful stuff splashing their colors around. Support your local farmers with your purchases, and yourself with the most delicious, freshest healthy food around. (If not, there are lots of markets open on Sunday.)
