Beauty in a Blink
Oh, well. I had the best intentions to publish a full newsletter today, but ended up with five-count ‘em-five meetings today. It actually requires a fairly high level of brain function to string words together coherently, so I’ve decided instead to just share these beautiful scenes from just before sunrise today.
The amazing thing is how fleeting this kind of beauty can be, especially in a place, like Chicago, that has such changeable skies. This scene started with a thin red line below the clouds on the horizon, blossomed into this majesty over a few minutes, then faded away just as quickly. Blink and you missed it. Most people woke up to a gray cloud cover, which in turn gave way to a sunny afternoon.
Reinforcing my motto as a photographer: Always look up.
I’ll be back on the food and farm beat tomorrow, promise.
Before Covid, our booth/stall up in Evanston faced West. Watching weather approach and the sky evolve between 5am and 2pm was always a fascinating sideshow.
