Circle 8/19 for Cedar Valley’s Farm/Brewery Tour
Cedar Valley Sustainable Farm in Ottawa, Illinois uses regenerative practices to raise its livestock and pioneered the concept of a meat CSA in Illinois. And owners Jody and Beth Osmund shared the news that they are holding an event — Barnyard and Brews — on Saturday, Aug. 19 that sounds like a lot of fun (I’m putting it on my calendar).
A farm and beer tour is kind of a natural for Cedar Valley, which makes most of its CSA drops at Chicagoland craft breweries (craft beer is also near and dear to my heart). Here’s how they describe the upcoming event.
You probably know we love craft breweries (if there's any question, look at our delivery locations!). So we can't wait to get a behind the scenes look at our hometown farm-to-foam brewery.
We will begin here at the farm for a tour of Cedar Valley Sustainable. You'll see the animals and learn about how we started the Midwest's first meat CSA.
Next, we'll all head in to town for a behind the scenes look at Tangled Roots, Ottawa's 'farm to foam' craft brewery. The hour-long tour will be presented by Awesome Ottawa Tours. We'll get a behind the scenes look at their state of the art brewery and historic building. The tour finishes with a complimentary flight of beer.
If you would like to enjoy a meal with Jody, Beth, and Tom (our Awesome local historian and tour guide), we can gather afterwards at The Lone Buffalo (the restaurant attached to the brewery). Dinner is not included in the price of the tour.
The farm and brewery tour costs $35. Click the button below and scroll down for more information about this and other Cedar Valley events, and then browse the site to learn more about the farm and the CSA.
