Auction Puts Better Food System At Your Bidding
Illinois Stewardship Alliance online auction open through Sunday
A Better Food System is at Your Bidding
If you are a regular Local Food Forum reader, you probably know that I work closely with my friends at Illinois Stewardship Alliance, a nonprofit supporter of our state’s local farmers and their advocate on legislation and policy in the state capital of Springfield. So I am happy to share this information about their Harvest Auction online fundraiser.
The virtual auction is already up and running and is open now until Sunday (September 18) at 7:00 p.m. central. The auction is part of the Alliance’s Harvest Celebration, which takes place Sunday night at Indian Creek Homestead in Petersburg, Illinois.
Some unique local food items and farm-to-table experiences are up for bidding in the auction. A few you might like are:
• A rare agave tequila tasting for four with Lou Bank, host of the Agave Road Trip podcast
• 30 lbs. of Pastured Meat Package from Rustic Road Farm in west suburban Elburn, or bring your loved ones to Rustic Road for a family photoshoot
• Yard or garden consultation from the experts at Planted Green Midwest and bulk up your garden with an organic seed sampler package from High Mowing Organic Seeds
• A hayride tour around Cliff McConville’s All Grass Farms in Dundee and leave with an armful of products from Cliff’s farm.
The Alliance also has a great new cotton canvas tote only available for purchase during the auction. It’s big and hardy — perfect for the farmers market! (I’ll have to get my own.)
Proceeds from the auction help build a powerful Alliance of farmers and eaters who work together to solve problems, shift policy, and create a more just and regenerative local food system.
To start bidding, simply create a free account with Handbid. Again, the auction closes on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. central.
