An Untaxing Beer Meetup April 15, If...
There's enough interest — venue will be Uncommon Ground Lakeview
Hopeful Hopper
It was another winter-ish day last Friday (March 10), so it was a happy surprise to see my first rabbit of the year on Hawthorne Terrace in Lakeview. It’s not feeling like spring yet, but we’re getting there.
Next Beer Meetup Planned for Saturday April 15
Uncommon Ground Will Be Venue If There’s Enough Interest
The next Local Food Forum Beer Meetup is being planned for Saturday, April 15, starting 1 p.m., at Uncommon Ground restaurant in Lakeview — a pioneer in locally and sustainably focused dining in Chicago and home of Greenstar Brewing, which was the first organic brewery in Illinois. I’m calling it the Untaxing Beer Meetup because of, well, the date.
I will need a show of hands from folks who want to attend, so I know we have a critical mass for an event (and to keep my FONSU — Fear of Nobody Showing Up — under control). So please comment on this article, or email me at bob@localfoodforum.com.
Those of you who were at the first Beer Meetup on February 25 know that the only glitch had to do with paying the bills. Due to a misunderstanding, only four credit cards were accepted for the full group, which made splitting the checks pretty chaotic.
So, live and learn, we’re trying something different this time: I will create an Eventbrite to enable people to pay in advance. That way you’ll be able to enjoy the event without fumbling with money and credit cards.
According to the folks at Uncommon Ground, the price will be $30-$35 per person (I’ll get the exact nailed down soon). The price will include two pints per person of Greenstar’s excellent beers… passed appetizers… and something special that we didn’t have at the earlier event: A tour of the Greenstar brewhouse lead by head brewer Brandon Stern (seen in the photo below)!
Who’s with me? Let’s go! (Bonus to first person who responds with the movie reference for that phrase.)
Please let me know asap if you’re in.
I should be able to join!
That's great, Marty.
